Dogmatic explanation

In many ways, the dogma of Twelve Apostles’ Church in Christ is similar to that of numerous other Apostolic Churches but there are significant differences. Common ground is that Our Beliefs that there are Apostles here on earth today, carrying out the mission given to the original 11 disciples by our Lord, Jesus Christ. And here we start to differ from many of our brethren, e.g., why Matthias is forgotten: he was appointed by Chief Apostle Peter as a replacement for Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:15-26)

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that a distinction must be made between Jesus, son of man, of the house of David, (Luke 18:38) and Jesus, Son of God, the anointed one, Jesus Christ. Jesus child of David was indeed an intelligent young man who had learnt much about the Jewish religious beliefs in his upbringing and who knew his calling. When he went with many of his contemporaries to the river Jordan and was baptised by John the Baptist, that was not the end, he was then anointed by God. The Holy Spirit descended on Him (in the form of a dove) and a voice from the Heavens spoke “this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” (Matt.3: 17). Jesus was the human person; Jesus Christ is the spiritual person, the Son of God (John 3: 16).

  • We believe that there are two baptisms, the first by water, and the second by the baptism of The Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by a living Apostle(Acts 8 : 17; Acts 19 : 1-6)

  • We believe that the Word of GOD has been entrusted to the Apostles and that the Bible is a history of the early Hebrew nation and evidence of the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. “You search the scriptures, for in them you think that you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me” (John 5:39). If the Bible is not the Word of God, what is? The Word of God was entrusted by Jesus Christ to His 11 disciples as evidenced in John 17:14. “I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You: and they have believed that You have sent Me”. Out of this it must be accepted that the interpretation of the scriptures and the Word of God is in the hands of the Apostles, even more so in the hands of the living Apostles.

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is with his Apostles who are His disciples right now and that there will be no second coming,it has already happened. The Bible, as evidence, tells us that Jesus Christ did indeed say “I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God” (John 20:17), but it also tells us that “all authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth…: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matt 28:18-20). Note the tense, “I AM with you”, not “I will be with you”. This means that He is with His Disciples even today. If He is here today, He cannot return.

  • We believe that there is a difference between disciples and Apostles. Jesus Christ was given 12 Apostles but only 11 of them were disciples. 11 were prepared to follow their teacher and learn from His teachings; the twelfth indeed followed the teacher but did not learn. This was all part of God’s greater plan for mankind, even that one of the Apostles was predestined to perdition (John 17:12).

  • We believe that The Holy Spirit can only be received by the laying on of hands by a living Apostle in the same way as the Bible testifies that the early Apostles laid hands on believers and they received The Holy Spirit (inter alia Acts 8:14-17). Likewise, only a person who has been anointed by a living Chief Apostle can be an Apostle. No person can proclaim himself to be an Apostle, only our Father can make this known to the Chief Apostle. In the same way as the 12 were given to Jesus Christ, God gives the chosen ones to His Church on earth. Let nobody be misled by the events recounted in the scriptures concerning the earliest Apostles. Jesus was Anointed by God as the first of all Apostles (Matt.3:16) (Hebrews 3:1), He in turn breathed on the 11 Disciples when giving them the gift of the Holy Spirit (John 20:22), and, as an exception to what followed, Apostle Paul was told of his calling by God Himself and Ananias was given his instructions also by God. After these first anointments, all Apostles were appointed by Peter or his successors, like Apostle Matthias for example.

  • We believe that many are called but few are chosen (Matt.20:16), that this includes the multitude of false prophets, prophets not necessarily in the strict sense of the word but those who claim to perform miracles in God’s name (Matt. 7:21-23). How many self-appointed Pastors claim just this? At the first commissioning of the Apostles, Jesus Christ specifically instructed the 12 to “go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons.. .” (Matt.10:6-8). This was an instruction given to the 12, originally limited to “the lost sheep of Israel”, but later (second commissioning) to “all nations” (Matt.28: 19). Only an Apostle has this authority.

  • We believe in the process of cleansing and purification of souls, subsequently, after Jesus Christ had been to His Father and had been given “all authority in Heaven and on earth (Matt. 28:18),He commanded His Disciples to extend the Gospel to souls destined for heaven and that can be done by the Chief Apostle as the successor of Chief Apostle Peter, the rock upon which Christ’s Church was to be built, against which the gates of Hades would not prevail, and to whom the keys to heaven had been given (Matt. 16:18-19).

  • We believe that when a human being dies it is the flesh which dies and not the soul and that the soul does not sleep. Our Beliefs that the departed souls (departed from the human body) if preached to can still hear the Word of God and repent hence removing them from prison(1 Peter 3:18-20; 1 Peter 4: 6). Our Beliefs in the purification of these souls, the giving of the gift of The Holy Spirit to the living (Psalm 68:18) as well as the baptism of the living for the dead (1 Corinthians 15:29)

  • We believe that the only way to receive Jesus Christ is to receive the Apostles first, as Jesus Christ commanded “whosoever receives you receives Me and whosoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me” (Matt. 10:40).

  • We believe that the Apostles are the only people who were given the authority by Jesus Christ to forgive sins on earth (John 20:23).

Teachings & Sacraments

Teachings:

We focus on teaching and practicing the gospel and the life of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as proclaimed by the living Apostles. Our teachings are rooted in Love, Peace, Joy in the Holy Spirit, the guidance and revelations received by the Apostles and Prophets, ensuring a faithful representation of Christ's message and teachings. Summarising the expectations of a Christian by Apostles Stewardship of Love (Royal Law) - Jesus Christ founded the Christian faith on the principle of Love. John 13 vs 34. Christians wholeheartedly love God and each other. Love is the purpose or the intent of God’s Law especially the 10 commandments. Exodus 20 vs 1-17; Matt 22 vs 36-40.

Stewardship of Treasure

"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" Matt 6 vs 21. When God is the source of security and worth we can receive and let go of money. Money becomes a servant rather than a master. We can be free to enjoy money, to use it as a tool of love. Giving a tithe and offering is an outward sign of an inner commitment. 8 "Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ "In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3 vs 8-10

Stewardship of Time Talent

Each one of us has been given enough time to accomplish God’s purpose on this planet. “ To everything there is a season, and time to every purpose under heaven... A time to love, and a time to hate ; a war, and a time of peace” Eccl 3vs 1-8. God is the Lord of time; he is in charge and us dependent on Him and His decisions. Daniel 2 vs 20-22. Living wisely involves using our time wisely. Knowing that we will have to give an account to the One who gives us time should motivate us to use it well. The actual human being is our Soul, which is the piece of God in us which he breathed in us to make a living Soul. Gen 2 vs 7. Let what perishes work for what does not perish!

Stewardship of Gospel

The Gospel itself (God’s plan of Salvation) is one of the most important thing God has given us. As a good steward we will want to share this with others. The Christian is called to be faithful in their service. Our stewardship is faith in Action. We need to go out and testify. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28 vs 19-20.

Healing from Sickness & Demons

When you receive the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hand of an Apostle, you will receive protection from Sickness caused by Evil Spirits and Demons as long as you remain connected to the Word of God, they will not have a place on you. Generally healing is usually administered through the spoken Word of an assigned officer in the name of God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. A normal service may be done at a person’s house who is not feeling well. The service will consist of breaking of bread (word of encouragement and faith) culminating with a command and shaking of hand. A District Elder on occasional instances may lay hands and anoint with oil depending with how the Spirit gives.

Prophesy, Dreams and Visions:

All who have received the Holy Spirit can prophesy, will have holy dreams and visions which need to be reported to the anointed officer or officer conducting the service. The Prophets prophesy on the message to be given by the officer, give warning of impending problems, confirm the presence of God, the Saints and Christ in the congregation, edification of the congregation. The prophesy throughout the service mostly at the start of the service, but also in the middle and at the end, it also depends on what that service is for.

We believe in the Administration of Three Sacraments:- Water, Eucharist & Holy Spirit

A sacrament is an Outward and Visible Sign by which we Receive Inward and Spiritual (divine) Grace Ordained by Christ Himself and entrusted to the Church. Sacraments can only be received by administering through a servant of God who is an anointed officers (from a Community Priest) who received the power and authority by the Apostle at their ordination to administer two of the sacraments that is Water baptism and the Holy Communion. The third sacrament, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is administered by an Apostle during a Holy Sealing Service. "And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water and the blood and these three agree as one" . 1 John 5 vs 8

  1. Baptism by Water:

It is the first baptism performed by the church to achieve New Birth. This sacrament signifies repentance and the first close relationship with God. You become a Christian through faith and profession to Jesus Christ and His teachings and is an important step in one's faith journey. If you were baptised by water before, we will not baptise you again.

  2. Holy Communion (Eucharist):

It is the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. It is lifelong and ongoing sacrament, a sign of unity and community. Through this sacrament we remember the past, celebrate the present and place hope of the future. Communion is a sacrifice. The Christian family gathers during the Holy Communion Church Service to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. At this church service we proclaim, “Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ is with us until the end of times.” We conduct Holy Communion services on a monthly basis.

  3. Holy Sealing:

Through the Holy Sealing, God grants those baptised the gift of the Holy Spirit, together with the baptism of water referred to earlier comprises the rebirth out of water and the Spirit (John 3 vs 5). Through this rebirth the human being becomes a child of God and is called to be numbered among the firstlings of Christ. This service takes place annually and conducted by an Apostle ordained by Christ in the Alpha, present or Omega period. It involves the laying on of hands by a living Apostle (Acts 8 vs 15-17; Acts 19 vs 5-6) and signifies the reception of the Holy Spirit into one's life.
